What’s going on at the next table?...
Eavesdrop shamelessly in the Tearoom!
Ever caught snippets of other people’s conversations in a tearoom and wanted to listen in? (Go on, admit it!) Well, now’s your chance. Tearoom is an exciting new piece of theatre which makes this possible. In fact, darn well encourages it!
While you enjoy your cake and coffee, an array of seemingly ordinary characters drop in to spend a bit of time amongst the comforting teapots and sugar spoons of their local tearoom. As conversations unfold in your midst, dark longings, exciting secrets and inner conflicts emerge.
Through discovery and loss, strength and weakness, and especially through an exploration of how we tend to love, many of the visitors are brought to a place where they are faced with re-examining themselves and their relationships.
The exploration of how we balance loving others whilst respecting ourselves echoes throughout the play; weaving through the twelve characters’ very different lives and stories. Connecting them all is their pursuit (or inability) to stretch themselves beyond what they have believed is expected, acceptable or thought possible.
